The WT study yesterday
by molybdenum in( apologies for the large space at the top i don't quite know why .
i sat through the wt study that dealt with all the new understanding.. the conductor started by by saying .
well we wont spend too much time on what we used to believe, we will consider what we believe now.. i took a look round to see how the members of the congregation were reacting to this.. nothing.... .

For lurkers and newbies who think Jehovah`s Witnesses are better people than most
by smiddy inwhy dont you look up on the internet crimes comitted by jehovah`s witnesses , i think you will be very surprised.the majority of cases are comitted by dedicated baptised witnesses , not newly interested ones that you can excuse away.and the crimes range from anything minor to outright murder .. and remember ,jehovahs witnesses are only a minority religion and yet crimes comitted by them far outstrip the national average.. i`m sorry i cant put up the links .i`d appreciate it if someone can .thanks heaps.. smiddy.

They're prepared for that one, as an email from a friend that went on and on about it showed when I mentioned some ways in which JWs were really quite vile.

A baby to be sacrificed on the alter of Jehovah thwarted by New Zealands High Court.
by smiddy inthe herald sun newspaper article titled "jehovahs baby rule " "a sick babyis under the guardianship of new zealand`s high court so she can receive life-saving blood transfusions.......she could develop life-threatening complications without a transfusion.. to be fair the article also states "she has been given a 90 per cent survival rate with treatment,but is likely to need a blood transfusion-which her parents will not allow as they are jehovah`s witnesses.. my observations /concerns are this : jehovah`s witnesses refuse blood transfusions.a baptised jw who takes a blood transfusion can/will be disfellowshiped for not abiding by jw`s doctrine.going against gb policy direction is causing division.. jehovah`s witnesses do not beleive in donating blood to a blood bank even if it is theirs for their own private exclusive use .. official teaching on blood by jehovah`s witnesses is, it is not to be stored, it is to be poured out on the ground.it is not to be used for any purpose.. jehovah`s witnesses will not use blood and bone in their gardens,they will not eat blood sausage,and a married couple will certainly not engage in sexual activity when the wife is menstruating.. the dilemma/inconsistencys :why is it only a conscience matter, no penaltys applied for anyone to accept every fraction of blood that is donated by other people.?
they will use blood that is donated by other people , processed in a laboratory into various fractions and injected into their own bodies , and they dont see a problem with this hypocricy ?

Fading update for September
by ILoveTTATT ini need to get a job... asap.
i also need to move to a different city where i am close to everyone i care about but far enough so that i can fade peacefully and at my pace.. recently, some elders met with me and my girlfriend to advice us "lovingly" on dating and not being alone in parked cars, etc... they asked about my cards.
i need to move to a different city so there i can fade... i.e.

Can you not just move to the other end/side of the city? How big is your city? I'm in a city of over 500 000 and it's relatively easy to just move to the other end and just fade. Sure people will wonder about you and you'll run into JWs but eventually they'll leave you alone and you get to stay close. Win-Win.

"It's Demonic" - What's the stupidest thing you've ever heard a JW say?
by schnare ini was at a amusement park here in calgary today.
my jw mother and my young brother came to visit for a week,so me and my sister thought it would a nice idea to take them to do something fun.
i guess they had a part of it called hallo street and my mom was getting all sketched out from all the halloween decorations around.

The stupidest thing a JW has been accused of being 'demonic' is the band U2. A friend of mine called them demonic when we were in our 20s about 10 years ago, and also an old sister called their music 'devil' music.
I think it may have been because once in the 90s Bono dressed up as a McPhisto/devil caricature with little pointed horns, for a concert piece.

As JWs we were taught to ignore our own thoughts and feelings, as they teach that our feelings and thoughts are not to be trusted. We must sublimate our thoughts to the WT's views, and consequently that feeling of cognitive dissonance which arises is further neutralised with thought-stopping techiniques such as telling "God's ways are higher than mans", and "the heart is treacherous..." We were basically taught to deny our instincts and develop a blind spot for anything which challenges the WT's conception.
Further, JWs are very much cut off from their culture as no holidays or cultural traditions are to be observed. They are cut off from non-JWs too, thus separated from any grounding influences. In 1984 by George Orwell, this was likened to a man floating in interstellar space with no way of telling which way is up and which way is down. The only frame of reference he has is that given him by the Party. I especially notice this with born-in JWs; with no experience of 'worldly' life, it's very hard for them to land on their feet when they leave or are kicked out of the cult for some time.
